Susan & I met with Dr. Dan Greenwald this morning at the Cancer Center. I liked him immediately! He is warm, compassionate, brilliant & (as Oprah says) authentic. We spent an hour discussing breast cancer, treatments & my case.As of right now the plan is for me to start Chemo next week. Probably Tuesday. His plan is for me to have 8 sessions of chemo~ 2 weeks apart for each round. Thus, I will spend the next 4 months doing the first part of my healing process. After the chemo is completed I will have a mastectomy, followed by radiation. Should be an interesting 2009!
I am feeling optimisitic & ready for this to all get started. The truth is, I want this ALL to be behind me as quickly as possible!
I can't say it enough how absolutely Loved I feel. The amount of support is truly inspirational. People I don't even know offer hugs & words of encouragement. Amazing!
I plan on working & delivering babies this week & start my offical LOA after Saturday. My heart is heavy to not be able to do what I absolutely love~ as well as miss my incredible friends & colleagues. AND, I know that I now need to take care of me! 'let's get this (chemo) party started"...........

Whenever I hear a siren, I've been taught to always take a pause to pray for the person in distress for whom that siren is sounding. I've added my own observance to that by also praying for the right 'juice' to flow intuitively to and through the people attending them, as well.
ReplyDeleteMy girlfriend of sweet memories past - I will be not only praying for you but for those who are in charge of your care and recovery and all those you encounter along the way. And I know that you will be touching many as they meet you. I can also pray for the gifts of the journey. I will cultivate and will your full repair from the 'unseen' side.
Sometimes hard journeys make for greater peace than was possible before them because of perspective changes and people contacts along the way. We can't always know everything that's happening to our very souls... and no matter how it seems, our lives are always perfecting themselves.
If we think we're just bodies - then we're ALL doomed and not a one of us would escape. But in the last year, I've learned through what appeared to be strange hardships, that if I didn't identify with the hardship or fear and I retained a fearless and loving resolve to not be afraid and let fear or hardship drive me, that miracles are evident every hour when we're not pinched tight by our routines. And when we're not reacting negatively, incredible things present themselves to us and our problems. That alone is a gift from God - new eyes.
Yes my dear loved Sydney... Let the Journey begin. Love is pouring to you from everywhere. I can feel it, truly. And I'm really happy you're in the medical field and have such a great partner to be your advocate. Everyone should have one!
Let a golden waterfall of divine healing pour through your crown into your radiant body - every day.. and especially whenenver a dark thought comes - arrest it and replace it with the waterfall image and receive it's divine radiance in every cell of your miraculous body.
How I love you and I haven't even seen you in years.
You, by name, will be prayed for by nuns and monks at the Self Realization Fellowship for the next month before I renew the request for more of the same.
Bye for now. In separate email I'll update you with my newest address.
Much Much Love, Gorgeous!
Laural

Hey Syd,
ReplyDeleteWatching "The American President" this week-end and thinking of the sassiness of "Sydney Ellen Wade from Virginia".
Just like that character, we know you are "equal to the task" and will glide through all of this with grace!
We think of you everyday and are sending lots of love your way - the pups send big wet kisses to you as well!
love,
Lisa & Brenda
The power of love is the most impressive thing that I found on my own journey through this. The love of people who have known me all my life, as well as the love of people who were charged with my care and who just met me as a cancer patient, but came to be friends. You have a special energy about you, darling Sydney, that shines through, and is going to help light your way. Know that you are being held with gentle, loving arms no matter where you are. Also heed the wise words that were given to me, "When you are going through hell, keep going." Love Susan C
ReplyDeleteGood luck my friend, I know you will be back in action before you know it :)
