My birthday started out with , as one friend said, a most expensive gift~ a PET scan & A PEM. The PET scan can pick up any Cancer cells in the body & the PEM (Positron Emissions Mammography) does pretty much the same thing with the emphasis on the ....... you guessed it, the breasts.
Dr. Grafton (my surgeon) phoned us as we were heading home & said to come by her office & she would give us the interpretation of the scan. What luck! We wouldn't have to wait for the 3 day holiday weekend! She says we have 'good & bad news'. The "bad news" is that the PET/PEM revealed another (now 3!) tumor in the right breast AND multiple lymph nodes that were positive for cancer. The "good news" is that there is NO evidence of cancer anywhere else in my body!
She also stated that we need to wait until we meet with the oncologist (Dan Greenwald) next week to determine the exact plan of care~ AND, that the plan will most likely, be Chemotherapy, Radical Mastectomy, & radiation. Wow! Sounds like the "Full Monty" to me.
After the 'News' we headed to the Santa Ynez Valley with some dear friends & had a fabulous time wine tasting, laughing, & enjoying a beautiful day! We then headed to Flatbread Kitchen, in Los Alamos, for an amazing meal! Thank you Susan, Maggie, Laurie, Bonnie, Jim, & Janice! What a great day!
I can't even express how absolutely Loved, Cherished, Supported & Blessed I feel! the phone calls, texts, emails, cards, prayers, hugs, etc. are truly amazing! I feel all of your energy & love! I know in my heart that I am not alone on this journey. Thank you all so much for your support! It means the world to me!!!!!!!!
